Frozen River at Young People’s Theatre
On the Ada Slaight Stage Apr. 17 – 28, 2023
Recommended for Ages 5 – 12 | SK-Grade 6
Run time: approx. 60 minutes
From Winnipeg’s MTYP comes a timely new play. In nîkwatin sîpiy, Grandmother Moon tells the story of two eleven-year-olds, born under the same blood moon, but in different parts of the world. Frozen River follows their stories as they meet in a forest, and that of their descendants who meet in present day Manitoba. A broken promise from the past can be righted when there is finally an openness to learn from those who have protected and honoured the waterways for centuries.

Altitude Training for Seniors and Chronic Conditions
Aging is often accompanied by a decline in physical and cognitive functions, making it more challenging for seniors to maintain an active and independent lifestyle. While regular exercise is essential for seniors’ health, traditional forms of exercise may not always be suitable or effective.
Simulated altitude training can provide a safe and effective alternative for seniors to improve their physical and cognitive function.
In a simulated altitude gym, you can train at a lower impact and not only see better results, but also improve symptoms of chronic conditions like hypertension, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. These benefits can be achieved to a greater degree than the same training at a regular sea-level gym:
EVIDENCE BASED BENEFITS
* Lowers Cholesterol and Blood Sugar Levels
* Lowers Blood Pressure and Resting Heart Rate
* Improves Glucose Tolerance and Metabolic Health
* Increases Aerobic Capacity and Respiratory Function
* Improves Quality of Life
Talk to one of our coaches about the benefits for you. Book a complimentary 30-minute consult at the link below and receive a one-on-one personal training trial session.

Third Wave Coffee Inc’s Feature Espresso: La Palma Y El Tucan
Delightful feature espresso: the celebrated La Palma Y El Tucan. It is often used in competitions and a regular barista favourite. Lactic process Colombia makes clean and syrupy espresso. The profile of this coffee reminds us of sticky stone fruits, with nectarine, apricot and peach playing into the flavours. That’s supported with soft melon qualities, honey and molasses. The body is very much like a sweetened lemon iced tea, velvety and refreshing. Stop in today to try one for yourself!

Alumnae Theatre proudly presents String of Pearls
directed by Barbara Larose
A fateful thread of magic in the form of a pearl necklace slips from one woman’s hands to another’s. Passing through a vast myriad of women, the play offers a passport into each of their private spheres— inner worlds rich with desire, frustration, resentment, yearning, hoping. Inspired by interviews with over 200 people, String of Pearls tells of a pearl necklace that changes the lives of the play’s characters and there are lots of them – 27 to be exact. Featuring a wildly talented cast of 8 women, original music, and a gorgeous set elevated by projections; you won’t want to miss this stunningly evocative and hilariously heartfelt production.
