Join us at 9pm for a free screening in St. James Park of Breaking Away – a teen’s obsession with the Italian cycling team in small town America.

But first, join Ward 28 Bikes on a Toronto Bike History ride with special guest cyclists, the Barry family of Mariposa Bicycles for a short ride to The Royal Canadian Bicycle Club which was founded in 1891. The ride will start at 7 pm at St James Park at the Gazebo and will return to the park for the film screening.

Charlie’s FreeWheels will be onsite from 8pm with a display of creative projects made by youth at the CFW workshop. This display will include a bicycle powered blender – designed, welded and constructed by youth at Charlie’s FreeWheels! Everyone will be welcome to ride the bicycle to power the blender and make a healthy snack for all to enjoy before the movie.

Special guest speaker Mike Barry, will say a few words about the early days of Mariposa on King St. E.

Sponsored by the City of Toronto, presenter of Bike City: How industry, advocacy and infrastructure shaped Toronto’s cycling culture  at the Market Gallery, St. Lawrence Market, until November 17, 2018.   www.toronto.ca/marketgallery
