Gwen Brown: Little by little
at Beauchamp Art Gallery
Join us for Gwendolyn Brown’s upcoming pop-up exhibition, “Little by little”, running from August 9th to August 11th in our sister gallery located in the Distillery District! For 3 days only, the artist will present a charming collection of small-scale paintings that evoke nostalgic memories through everyday household objects and materials. Her new works will range between 6×6 to 24×24 inches in size. Brown is excited to share these brand new gems, fresh off her easel!
With meticulous attention to detail, the artist draws inspiration from familiar items, infusing each piece with a sense of intimacy and sentimentality. Through delicate brushwork and thoughtful compositions, she invites viewers to explore the intricate beauty of the mundane, tapping into shared experiences and cherished memories associated with the objects of daily life. For example nostalgic toys, favorite candies of childhood, tossed aside clothing, half-drunk cocktails of a night out; she aims to recall her own favorite pastimes. This evocative showcase offers a poignant reflection on the significance of the ordinary, inviting audiences to rediscover the magic in the familiar.
Visitors are welcome to meet the Toronto-based artist in the Beauchamp Art Gallery, located at 20 Gristmill Lane on Saturday August 10th for a day of live painting! Join us from 12pm to 5pm in order to get a peek behind the curtain of Gwendolyn Brown’s artistic process.

Death, Violence & Scandal Walking Tour
In this walking tour, explore the scandalous side of Little Muddy York as we walk through the surviving built environment of the original 10 blocks of Toronto and learn about the intriguing stories that would have been the gossip of the day. Invasions, epidemics, and hangings, oh my!
This tour is part of our Annual Summer Walking Tour Series. It begins on the steps of St. James Cathedral (facing King Street East) and ends at Toronto’s First Post Office Museum (260 Adelaide Street East). Tours run rain or shine, and may cover rough ground, so please dress accordingly.

Love at Altitude: Nadia and Khalid’s Kilimanjaro Proposal
Nadia and Khalid’s journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is a heartwarming story of love and determination. Their success in reaching Africa’s highest peak was made possible through months of dedicated training at Altitude Athletic Training, where they prepared in the state-of-the-art altitude chamber.
From the outset, Nadia and Khalid were committed to their goal, understanding the challenges ahead. They participated in rigorous training sessions designed to simulate high-altitude conditions, which improved their physical fitness and mental resilience.
Their hard work paid off as they embarked on their trek. Each step they took was a testament to the strength and endurance they had built during their training. Reaching the summit was a monumental achievement.
The highlight of their adventure was not just the breathtaking views from the top but the unforgettable moment when Khalid proposed to Nadia. At the summit, surrounded by stunning landscapes, she joyfully accepted, making their journey even more extraordinary.
