November has rolled in on the calendar and while that might make you reach for a blanket and search for the hibernation activation button, our local businesses have lots to offer that will keep you busy this month.
First up, events. Looking for somewhere to watch a wee bit of footy? How about a theatrical production of Snow White with a cast of only 2? (We can’t wait to see how they pull off 7 dwarfs!) Need to spice up your lunch break? Then come check out a burlesque presentation. If none of these spark your interest, live music at a popular joint is sure to do the trick. Of course, we would never send you out to any of these if you were suffering from back pain. For that we suggest a pilates session to get you in tip top shape.
The holidays are around the corner and we have everything you need. From the perfect spot to book a holiday party, the suit you’ll wear, the flowers for the table, custom stickers for the gift wrap, gift ideas from our retail friends who are undergoing a big renovation (but still open online) and even the sofa you’ll want to come home and flop on afterwards, we’ve got you covered.
Last but not least, we have your eats. Go ahead and wrap up lunch with a healthy aaamazing wrap then drool over a delectable French Canadian dessert. Enjoy happy hour deals while you chat up your bartender. Try a Bourbon County Stout. Sip on a Spiced Old Fashioned in a cozy hotel bar reminiscent of an English aristocrats’ club. Eat like a Roman or nab a local discount 8am-9am and 8pm-9pm. Find the perfect cookbook for “special” recipes. Be sure to order the calamari!
Scroll on to find all this and more in Old Town Toronto this November. As always, thank you for supporting local.

Snow White at Young People’s Theatre
A “Once Upon a Time” tale re-imagined for twice as much fun! Not your traditional Snow White, this clever twist on the beloved fairy tale is a two-actor take that’s irresistibly playful and oh-so smart. With lightning quick switches, the duet morphs into 14 characters, retelling (along with a song or three!) the story of Snow White, all seven dwarves, the prince, queen and her madcap crew. Hilarious and charming, this indigenous Snow White nudges the classic toward a more timely interpretation. On the Ada Slaight stage Nov 21, 2022 – Jan 7, 2023.

Ann’s beautiful recipe book, Butter & Flower, is dropping next week & we will have some copies available for purchase (Reg. price $45. Early bird price $40 until Nov 1. Books purchased as “early bird” will be available to pick up from 4pm, Weds, Nov 2)
Join Ann at Spiritleaf Adelaide on Weds – Fri Nov 2-4th. Pop in any time between 4-7 pm to check out her recipe book, to ask her any questions about infused baking and to sample a few of her (non-infused) recipes. (Books purchased until the 4th will be signed by the author if you wish). They make a beautiful gift!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ann began baking with cannabis to help a family member who struggles with debilitating migraines. Allchin has a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and English and a Master of Education. She is a passionate advocate for social justice and dispelling the social stigmas around cannabis use. She lives in Toronto with her husband, two kids, and two dogs.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Based on foundational recipes for infused butter, oils and sugar, the book includes classics, chocolate-forward desserts, fruity and nutty concoctions and even some savoury bites. The book also features stories from people who have had a transformative relationship with cannabis.
Also included are an opener on health and safety, guidelines for moderate, straightforward dosing and a glossary of terms to help properly steer the canna-curious. Like the fun chaperone at the dance, Ann is irreverent and safe in equal doses, the perfect pal for when you’re baking something “special”.
As usual, because we are an age-gated store, this event is 19+ only.

Spiced Old Fashioned at Consort Bar in Omni King Edward Hotel
Because when the weather gets cooler, there’s nothing better than sipping an Old Fashioned cocktail to warm you from the inside out. Step into Consort bar to enjoy a spiced variation brought to life with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, orange bitters, cardamom bitters, cane sugar, orange & lemon peel and then stirred to perfection and served on the rock.
Reminiscent of an English aristocrats’ club, a night spent at Consort Bar feels like a trip back in time, when the whiskey was strong, and the bar was cozy and inviting.
