As the days get a little longer and the temperature gets a little warmer, the city enters what is arguably the best time of year: patio season!

Admittedly things are a little bit different this year, but steps have been taken to ensure people’s safety during the pandemic and we honestly couldn’t be happier to once again have access to the beautiful patios that help make Old Town Toronto come alive all day and night.

Below is a list of just some of the patios that have recently opened up.

Bindia Indian Bistro, 16 Market St., 416-863-0000, Open Daily: 11:30am-9:30pm
If you missed sitting down on the beautiful patio for any of Bindia’s delicious delights, you’re in luck because patio service is now open with a reservation by calling or through Open Table. Take in the sun, enjoy a cold drink, and feast on some of the wonderful fusion dishes on Bindia’s new patio menu like masala fish tacos, tandoori salmon salad, and an achaari chicken sandwich that is heaven on a plate.

Off the patio, take out and delivery options are still available, with 10% off orders done through their website at bindia.ca. Bindia is also available on UberEats.

HOTHOUSE at the St. Lawrence, 35 Church St, 416-366-7800, Mon-Thurs: 11am-10pm, Fri: 11am-11pm, Sat: 10am-11pm, Sun: 10am-10pm
With its beautiful view of the historic Flatiron Building, the massive HOTHOUSE patio at Church and Front is back in business, allowing you to bask in the beauty of historic Old Town Toronto while dining on the satisfying food and delicious wines that make them a Toronto food destination.

All the regular menu items are available including wild boar bolognese, jambalaya, and their famous Hothouse mussels. For those hoping for the reopening of Hothouse’s award-winning Sunday brunch buffet, you’ll have to wait a little longer, but in the meantime there is an à la carte brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays including some of the staff’s favourite core menu items.

Beyond that, Hothouse is available on Ritual, Skip The Dishes, DoorDash, and UberEats daily from 4-8:30pm. For patio reservations visit OpenTable or visit hothouserestaurant.com for more details!

The Old Spaghetti Factory, 54 The Esplanade, 416-864-9761
Since 1971 The Old Spaghetti Factory has been creating wonderful memories for locals and tourists alike inside their historic 1898 building. And now that the patio is open you can once again enjoy the hearty family-style Italian meals with the charming and historic backdrop that makes a visit to the Factory fun. As always the Old Spaghetti Factory has a number of dishes from signature pastas and grilled meats to mouthwatering appetizers and a kids menu.

Cantina Mercatto, 20 Wellington Street E. #1, 416 304 0781, Tues – Sat: 12pm-8pm
A visit to the spacious Cantina Mercatto is nothing short of an experience of culinary delight, and we’re relieved to finally have access to the carefully prepared foods, well-curated wines, and creative cocktails that the Mercatto name is known for while taking in the beautiful summer sun. And truthfully, a nice glass of chilled white wine, a plate of linguine di mare 24 (with shrimp, calamari, and PEI mussels), and a generous portion of gelato is just the summer experience we need right now!

Patio reservations are available online at cantina.mercatto.ca or by phone.

Versus Coffee, 70 Adelaide St. E., 647-987-5470, Mon-Tue: 7:30am-5pm Wed-Fri: 7:30am – 7pm Sat: 8am-7pm Sun: 8am-5pm

We’ve already featured some amazing restaurants here, but along with enjoying some fine dining, we also love sitting on a sunny patio with an exquisite cup of coffee and engaging in fine activities such as reading a good book, people watching, or chatting with a friend. For that, Versus Coffee has you covered with their selection of baked goods, tasty meals, high-quality coffee, and some of the most colourful and beautiful latte art you’ve ever seen (seriously, they were even featured on television for it)!

The patio is currently first come first serve, but if you don’t snag a seat you can still get your order to-go. Maybe even treat yourself and purchase a bag of coffee beans while you’re there!
