Ah, Spring is in the air! The smell of blooming flowers! The sudden bustle of activity!

Let’s face it, this past winter was a doozy and felt like it lasted an eternity, so we’re pretty grateful to get the chance to put on some lighter clothes and go out into the sun to explore more of our wonderful Old Town Toronto!

We’ve been counting the days until it gets nice out and already have a list of some spring activities around the neighbourhood!

PATIOS PATIOS PATIOS

You know that we’re absolutely itching to get out there and enjoy some patio action and OTT has some of the best outdoor spots in the city to get your food and drink on!

Escape to the back patio at Betty’s for some tasty craft beer and hearty pub grub at the ready, enjoy the sunshine while sipping on some prosecco and indulging in some hearty Italian cuisine at Mangia & Bevi, or scope out the jealous passerby while you dig into a Caesar that’s a meal in itself at Score on King!

Need some more? Get a quality wine and enjoy the breeze at the patio on Cantina Mercatto, C’est What’s beer garden will be serving up some quaffable pints, Biff’s Bistro is where it’s at for some French fare with a fair view of the city, and the Esplanade just wouldn’t be the same without the laughter and lively conversation happening on the patios at Bier Market and the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Coffee or Tea in the Park

Sometimes it’s just great to get away from the world for a little bit by going to the park with a cup of coffee or tea. Whether you want to read a book, people watch for a bit, check out all of your favourite neighbourhood dogs, or simply just sit and enjoy the vibe, Berczy Park, St. James Park, and David Crombie Park are all excellent options for your little green escape from the city.

As for what drink to get, Black Canary Espresso Bar’s new Hojicha Latte made with specially roasted powdered green tea is a drink that just embodies Spring! And we personally can’t function during the day without at least one cup of some delicious roasted coffee from Balzac’s (The Balzac’s Blend is our favourite). For something on the cold and flavourful side, the signature fresh fruit teas from Urban Cova makes for a delicious parkside sipper!

New Spring Look

Winter’s done and we don’t need to hide anymore! So set aside that bulky jacket and get out there into the world, you absolute rockstar!

But hey, Spring is a time for renewal in more ways than one, so let’s get adventurous by shaking up our appearance a little!

6ix Tips Nails & Spa and the Ten Spot are the places to go for a killer mani/pedi and eyebrow service that will turn some heads. For a stylish haircut that’ll turn *your* head, Wellington Hair Salon, Samir Hair Design, and Hair Market are all incredible places to get a trim, colour, and style. For some kickin’ threads to match, Mr. Cavaliere’s custom menswear will make sure you have a stylish look for literally any occasion and Inti Taita Impressions at the St. Lawrence Market has comfy, loose, and light 100% Pima clothing from Peru that will be perfect for a grand day out on the (old) town!

Trying Something New

Nothing is better for a personal renewal than taking in some brand new experiences! And what’s better for that than trying out some of the new businesses of Old Town Toronto?

We’ve talked about GoodGood before and absolutely love the ever-changing selection of amazing products they store! From incredible local beer and wine selections to amazing baked goods and snackables, GoodGood truly is a treasure trove of new things to experience!

Or you could try your hand at the Plant Parent life by seeing what’s available at the Corner Shop Gardens at the St. Lawrence Market! Just remember to not overwater your new plants!

If none of those things float your boat, that’s okay! You can simply go out to eat at a place you haven’t been to before. One of our favourite new spots is Amano Trattoria, which serves up incredible Italian cuisine complete with a sublime cocktail menu. We’re definitely a fan of the Roman-style pizzas and cocktails like the Pick Me Up, a mix of Dillon’s gin, sweet vermouth and coffee-infused Campari.
